The LIFE project closest to us is the Wisła Warszawska (Warsaw’s Vistula). The official title of this project is “The protection of habitats of key bird species in the Central Valley of the Vistula River in conditions of high pressure from the Warsaw agglomeration” (LIFE09 NAT/PL/000264). This project is implemented by the City of Warsaw and the Capital Association for the Protection of Birds (STOP –Stołeczne Towarzystwo Ochrony Ptaków). Several of the project’s activities take place in the Park’s buffer zone, that is why this project is of special interest to us.

On Monday, September 8th we held a common meeting which took place in the exact location of the project – the Vistula River. We took a motorboat from Port Praski to the nature reserve Ławice Kiełpińskie located near the town of Łomianki in KNP’s buffer zone. Here we were informed about the activities planned in the framework of the Wisła Warszawska project. During the meeting we also spoke about technical and procedure matters common for both our projects.
