By the end of the year 2013 all planned built up households have been purchased – 18 households.

During the autumn of 2013 the two first built up households purchased within the “ActiveKPN” project were demolished. The next seven built up households were demolished in February 2014, and by the 10^th of March the area on which they stood was already cleaned. These buildings, usually old and damaged, could prove hazardous not only to the Park’s nature, but also for people.

The taking down of these buildings undoubtedly improved the landscape, its aesthetic values, but also positively impacted the cleanness of the water and soil. At the same time ecological barriers such as fences or buildings were removed. These anthropological barriers obstructed the migrations of some animals, especially secretive species avoiding human presence.

During the demolition of built up households we paid attention to the means of disposing of hazardous materials, like asbestos, which, often in large volumes, not only covered the roofs of the demolished houses, but were also scattered in their surroundings.

Careful cleaning of the area followed each demolition.
